As part of the BlueTIDE 2026 experience, Polaris Tech Bridge brought together an impressive group of blue technology innovators and investors for an afternoon of Investor + Innovation Speed Dating at Innovate Newport.
Sponsored by J.P. Morgan Wealth Management and Black Lotus Quantum Ventures, with support and donations from The Blue Venture Forum, Innovate Newport, Ragged Island Brewing Company and Gold’s Wine and Spirits, the event created a unique setting for companies to have direct conversations with investors about their technologies, business goals and opportunities for growth.
The format was designed to make meaningful connections happen quickly. Rather than relying on traditional networking where conversations could be brief or limited to exchanging contact information, participating companies had the opportunity to sit down directly with investors and introduce their ideas to people who understood the challenges and opportunities of growing a technology company.
For blue technology companies, those connections could have been particularly valuable. Access to the right investor could open the door to capital, mentorship, strategic partnerships and new markets. Just as importantly, meeting investors in person gave entrepreneurs an opportunity to build relationships that could continue well beyond a single conversation or event.
“The BlueTIDE Investor and Innovation event was created to connect BlueTIDE participants with investors and provide another pathway to accelerate company growth,” said Christian Cowan, Executive Director of Polaris. “The speed-dating format created opportunities for companies to engage directly with leading commercial and defense-focused investors, expanding access to capital and strengthening the region’s growing dual-use innovation ecosystem.”
The Investor + Innovation Speed Dating event demonstrated that networking was about more than simply making contacts. It was about putting the right people in the same room and creating an environment where conversations could lead somewhere.
For entrepreneurs, that meant having the chance to explain their technology, ask questions and learn what investors were looking for. For investors, it provided a firsthand look at emerging technologies and the people behind them. Those conversations could help identify promising companies, uncover potential investment opportunities and create relationships across the growing blue technology ecosystem.
The event also highlighted the strength of the network surrounding BlueTIDE. Bringing together investors, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, government representatives and other stakeholders created opportunities for connections that extended beyond the traditional boundaries of the maritime technology sector.
And the conversations did not end at Innovate Newport. The connections continued at BlueTIDE 2026
The Investor + Innovation Speed Dating event served as an introduction to what was to come the following day at BlueTIDE 2026 at Sail Newport.
